Oriol has an extensive professional experience across diverse settings, such as modelling, monitoring, strategy, research, and policy, in both the private and public sectors. During his more than 17 years’ experience in the environmental field, Oriol has acquired a strong expertise and motivation in implementing research to promote science-based policy and effective decision-making. Oriol has a robust technical education and ongoing training and development. He is highly skilled at managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, consistently delivering successful outcomes.
Some of his key achievements include leading the development of the first air quality modelling and forecasting system for the Barcelona City; studying the natural and anthropogenic composition of particulate matter (PM2.5) in the Arabian Peninsula; publishing the first Air Emissions Inventory for the Abu Dhabi emirate, leading the first Atmospheric Research Expedition to Abu Dhabi (AREAD) on board of EAD research vessel, implementing the first remote sensing of real-world vehicle emissions in Abu Dhabi and advising on the most appropriate policies and interventions to the government agencies of Barcelona, Catalunya, Abu Dhabi, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In 2021, he was appointed as advisor to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
