Dr. Shash has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, awarded 1981, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Construction Management from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas, United States of America, awarded in 1984 and 1988, respectively.
Dr. Shash assumed administrative responsibilities as Chairman of the Architectural Engineering Department from 1992 until 1995 and as the Chairman of the Construction Engineering and Management Department from 1995 until 1996. Dr. Shash was the Manager of the Research and Innovation Support Office in the Research Institute from 1997 until 2002 and then he assumed the responsibilities of the Director for the Center for Engineering Research. Dr. Shash established and become the Director of the Construction Industry Institute at KFUPM.
Dr. Shash served as a Consultant for Prince Sultan Science and Technology Center over its development, as a member of Prince Mohammed University advisory committee, as a member of the Advisory Committee, Saudi Building Code, as the Chairman of the Technical Committee for Legal and code administration issues, and as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in The School of Civil Engineering, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom from 2000-2006, and Vice President for Projects, Faysal Mohammad Al-Qahtani Sons Company for Trading and Contracting.
Dr. Shash was awarded two British Council Scholarships and one American Fulbright Scholarship. He was also awarded two prizes from KFUPM for the best teacher and the best academic advisor.
Dr. Shash is also the General Manager of the Green Court Company for Trades and Contracting (GCC). The company implements on site Modern Method of Construction (MMC) consisting of Nano Concrete and Plank Plock slabs.
